A Table of Transformation // The Christmas Table // Ps Lynda Stanton
1. TRANSFORMATION INVOLVES AN INWARD CHANGE.
But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
JOHN 1:12-13 (NLT)
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
1 JOHN 3:1 (NIV)
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 (NLT)
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
JOHN 8:32 (NLT)
I am the way, the truth and the life.
JOHN 14:6 (NLT)
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
JOHN 8:36 (NKJ)
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
ISAIAH 55:8-9 (NKJ)
2. TRANSFORMATION BEGINS WITH A CHANGE IN THE WAY WE THINK.
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
ROMANS 12:1-2 (NLT)
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 CORINTHIANS 3:18 (NKJ)
3. TRANSFORMATION UNLOCKS THE HIDDEN PLACES.
We do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses.
HEBREWS 4:15 (ESV)
“a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief”
ISAIAH 53:3 (ESV)
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
PSALM 34:18 (ESV)
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
MATTHEW 11:28 (ESV)
4. TRANSFORMATION ENABLES US TO BE AGENTS OF CHANGE
I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].
PHILIPPIANS 4:13 (AMP)
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
COLOSSIANS 1:9-14 (ESV)
