The Unlikely One // Ps Joe Oguns

Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” And the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. And He said, “No, but you did laugh!”

Genesis 18:12-15 (NKJV)

So he said to Him, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in  Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”

Judges 6:15-16 (NKJV)

But Moses said to God, “who am I that I should go onto Pharaoh and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

Exodus 3:11 (NKJV)

So the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And He said, “Cast it to the ground.” So he cast it to the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand)

Exodus 4:2-4 (NKJV)

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things – and the things that are not – to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.

1 Corinthians 1:26-29 (NIV)

“For you will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
For by you I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall.”

Psalm 18:28-29 (NKJV)

5. Her opportunity to make a difference came during an ordinary routine gathering sticks to cook her last meal.
